MindBug is built by a small team in India. You can read our whole privacy posture in two minutes; the short version is: we store what you tell MindBug so the next conversation knows you, we don't sell it, and you can download or delete all of it any time from your profile page.

What we store

• Your email (used only for sign-in and the Sunday note if you opt in).
• What you say to MindBug and what MindBug says back. Stored in our own database on a server in India.
• Small structured notes MindBug makes about you during onboarding (likes, values, constraints in your own words). You see and edit these on your profile page.
• Your check-ins, mood marks, and roadmap.
• A privacy-respectful numerical fingerprint (embedding) of each longer message, so future sessions can remember relevant context. Not a transcript index — just a vector.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data. There's no advertising model here.
• We don't share your conversations with anyone. Not family, not employers, not matchmakers.
• We don't train foundation models on your messages.
• We don't show you ads.

Who processes data on our behalf

We use a handful of vendors so we can build a small, focused product. They only see what's needed for their job:

• Google Gemini — generates chat replies, roadmaps, and the numerical fingerprints above. Each message is sent at request time; Google's enterprise terms say they don't use paid API content for training.
• Resend — delivers the sign-in code and the Sunday note. They see your email address and the message body.

Safety + the helpline

When a message looks like a crisis (heavy distress, self-harm, active abuse) we quietly log a category tag and the first 240 characters of the message so we can respond responsibly — e.g., always show the KIRAN helpline card. We do not share these logs. KIRAN (1800-599-0019) is a free government service available 24×7 in 13 Indian languages.

Your controls

• Export. Download everything as one JSON from your profile page.
• Forget. Tap × on any profile chip to remove it.
• Delete account. One button, then type your email to confirm. Everything cascades — chats, roadmap, check-ins, embeddings. No shadow copies.
• Turn off Sunday notes with the toggle on your profile, or the link at the bottom of any digest email.

How long we keep things

As long as your account exists. Delete the account and it's all gone within a day (database cascade is immediate; backups roll out within 14 days).
